“I was an engineer by trade – good at what I did, but completely green when it came to starting and scaling a business. We launched the company about eight years ago, and early on I realised I needed help if this thing was going to work. That’s when we brought Toss on board.

From day one, he gave us structure and perspective. I’d never thought about things like marketing or business planning – I was focused on the work. Toss helped us shift our line of questioning: how were we going to build the business? How would we grow it? How would we think long-term? 

The past five years in particular, we’ve weathered a lot. Economic turbulence. COVID. Major restructures. Now we’re entering new global markets. Toss hasn’t just been here through it all; the early years, the growth spurts, the rough patches. He’s helped us navigate it, giving us the confidence to keep moving, even when things were uncertain.

Mindset is a big thing for Toss. A mindset shift he coached me through was that business is cyclical, and the tough times don’t last forever. That perspective has been vital. When times get tough, Toss helps us zoom out of the day-to-day, take in the big picture, and make steady, informed decisions rather than reactive ones.

Toss is a numbers guy, but the work is about so much more to him than that. He’s a business therapist, not a bean counter. He creates space for honest conversations, especially between business partners, and surfaces the stuff that might otherwise go unspoken. That was invaluable to us in the early years, and still is.
